1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/2 cups flour
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Cream butter & sugar together.
Add flour & mix until you make a a ball. (I used my mixer with the dough hook). Press dough into an ungreased pan or you can use a baking dish made for shortbread. Sprinkle the top with sugar and prick with a fork if you are using a flat pan.
Bake for 40-45 minutes and then check to see if the edges are getting brown on the edges and the top lightly browned. My pottery baking dish is deep so it took an hour! Let stand for about 5 minutes before cutting. If you are using a pottery dish, you will put a board on top of the dish and flip it over. The shortbread should fall right out.
As the shortbread cools, it will crisp up. Enjoy!
